"VETROARREDO GLASS BLOCK allowed us not only to respond effectively to the competing functional requirements of the room but also to use its extraordinary and complex beauty as a material to create a space that is truly magical in its effects."
"When the offices of the University of Georgia Graduate School were relocated into the historic Michael Brothers Department Store in downtown Athens, the architect and the client shared the intention of keeping the volume of the large, uninterrupted space intact – both to preserve the historic features of the building and to allow natural light from the large perimeter windows to penetrate deeply into the space. Because it was to be a visually and acoustically secure area, the Dean’s Conference Room presented a unique challenge: the walls had to extend to the ceiling, but, at the same, the desire to use natural light remained."
"For the occupants, the afternoon sun is filtered and crystallized in a changing matrix of light. As the surrounding space darkens, the room becomes a lantern, a glowing football."
